THE CRADLE OF THE »DANCING HORSE« – Tour of Lipica Stud Farm and show of classical ridding school
Today you will experience the beauty and fruits of the Karst. The Karst region is a small limestone plateau stretching south of Nova Gorica to the Škocjan Caves in the Southeast. Near the Italian border is Lipica, the home of the Lipica Stud Farm, founded in 1580 by Charles, Archduke of Vienna. The Lipizzaners, born dark in color and gradually lightening to a brilliant white, are a proud tradition of the region. Trained to perform movements originally designed for warfare, the Lipica horses today entertain audiences with muscular feats such as the “Airs” above the ground.
